Dear all,
I’m thrilled to be one of the fourteen laureates of the 2027 Villa Kujoyama residency programme. The opportunity to develop a photography project in Kyoto next year is a dream come true. I have been travelling to Japan regularly for the last ten years with Cécile Poimboeuf-Koizumi, and for the last three years with our daughter Saé, too. During this time, I have been observing and listening, and I now feel ready to start creating images in Japan.
Villa Kujoyama is an institution of the cultural cooperation network of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Operated by Institut français du Japon, Villa Kujoyama works in coordination with Institut Français, and is supported by its main patron the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation.
All the best,
Vasantha
