Dear all,

I am thrilled to announce that Mystery Street has been shortlisted for the 2023 Prix Pictet ‘Human’. All shortlisted photographers will exhibit their works at the Victoria & Albert Museum (London) where the winner will be announced on September 28th, 2023.

Mystery Street is still on view at the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation (Paris) until September 3rd, 2023. The show will then travel to the International Center of Photography (New York) from September 29th 2023 to January 8th 2024, where it will be exhibited alongside works from Gregory Halpern and Raymond Meeks.

Mystery Street is featured on the cover of the latest issue of Photograph magazine. I spoke to Lyle Rexer about making work in New Orleans, coming of age and post-documentary, among other things.

The Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation has inaugurated a new format of talks entitled Le Feuilletage. Dedicated to photobooks, Le Feuilletage invites a photographer to talk about the genesis of the work: image selection, sequencing, editing, layout… I was pleased to be the first guest to speak about the book Mystery Street, published by Chose Commune. The event was recorded live and has been subtitled in English, it is now available on the Foundation’s Youtube page here.

I wish you all a wonderful summer,
Vasantha
